Buckhorn Recreation Area is located at Black Butte Lake in the scenic foothills of north-central California, approximately 100 miles north of Sacramento. Blue oak woodlands and towering basalt buttes offer a picturesque setting along 40 miles of shoreline. Black Butte is best known for its warm-water fishery and is a popular destination for both powerboats and sailboats. A total of 65 sites and one group camping facility is available. The day-use area is a popular spot for picnicking and swimming.
