Big Pine Canyon has two group sites, the Clyde Glacier and Palisade Glacier campgrounds. This campground is located 10 miles west of Big Pine, California, adjacent to Big Pine Creek. Unique in its situation, the campground is located in the stream bottom of a narrow canyon and is surrounded by high mountains.
Fishing and swimming are popular activities both in the creek and in the nearby lakes. The hills provide hiking opportunity through the various vegetation including Jeffrey pine, aspen and cottonwood trees. The glaciers in the nearby John Muir Wilderness also provide a fun hiking destination.
Reservations can be made from about mid-May through mid-September. They can be made up to 1 year in advance but they must be made at least 4 days prior to your intended arrival date.
