This campground is located 9 miles west of Big Pine, California, adjacent to Big Pine Creek. The campground is located in the stream bottom of a narrow canyon and is surrounded by high mountains.
Fishing and swimming are popular activities both in the creek and in the nearby lakes. Big Pine Creek, which runs alongside the campground, is stocked with trout yearly. The hills provide hiking opportunity through the various vegetation including Jeffrey pine, aspen and cottonwood trees. The glaciers in the nearby John Muir Wilderness also provide a fun hiking destination.
Reservations can be made from about mid-May through mid-September. They can be made up to 6 months in advance but they must be made at least 4 days prior to your intended arrival date.
