Stuart Recreation Area is set in a mixed forest along the Shavers Fork River. The river is stock with trout providing excellent fishing. There are also local caves to explore plenty of hiking trails; one popular trail leads to the nearby Blackwater Falls.
There is also a day use area with three pavilions, open maintained fields and a beach on the river front.
Reservations can be made mid-April through mid-October. For the single family sites reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance, for the Group areas they can be made up to one year in advance. All reservations must be made at least 4 days prior to your intended arrival date.
