Joes Valley Pavilion Group Site is located in a high mountain valley adjacent to Joes Valley Reservoir at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Sagebrush covers the area, a few cottonwoods line the shore, and aspens and pines dot the surrounding hillsides. The reservoir is visible from several sites and offers good fishing for cutthroat, rainbow trout, and trophy splake. Boating, water skiing, and canoeing are popular on the lake, a boat ramp is nearby at Joe's Valley Campground, and Joe's Valley Resort has boat, personal watercraft, ATV and bike rentals.
This campground is a group site that can accommodate up to 100 people. A large pavilion offers shade over the picnic tables only. A fire ring, grill, serving table, and a few additional tables are adjacent to the pavilion, but are not covered. There are no trees in the immediate area. Climate is fairly warm and dry. Vault toilets are provided, but no water or electricity. A large gravel parking area provides ample parking for vehicles, RVs, and even tents. This is a "pack it in, pack it out" site. Please bring garbage bags and remove all trash upon departure.
The expansive Arapeen ATV Trail System can be accessed just west of the reservoir, and has 350+ miles of designated, well-maintained trails for ATVs and OHVs and is suitable for all riding levels. Horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking are popular in the area as well.
