Camp Details:

Buffalo Campground is located 26 miles south of West Yellowstone, Montana in beautiful Island Park, Idaho along the banks of the Buffalo River at an elevation of 6,200 feet. A mixed growth pine forest provides partial shade; aspens dot the landscape, and summer wildflowers are abundant. The Buffalo River has good brook and rainbow trout fishing. Wildlife can be frequently spotted throughout the area.

This campground provides restrooms, potable water, and garbage service but no electricity. Loop B has accessible flush toilets; all others are vault toilets. A large group site is reservable and can accommodate up to 150 people. Several single family sites are reservable, each with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Roads and parking spurs within the campground are paved. A campground host is on site. Firewood is available for purchase. A lodge and grocery store are 1/4 mile away. Boat ramp on-site is wheelchair accessible and fishing dock is barrier free.

Island Park has outdoor activities for everyone. Hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, horse, and ATV trails crisscross the area. Henry's Fork has great fly-fishing for rainbow and brook trout; tubing, canoeing, kayaking, and rafting are also popular on the river. Island Park Reservoir and Henry's Lake are nearby, with boat ramps, fish cleaning stations, boating, waterskiing, and fishing. Numerous small lakes and streams are scattered throughout Island Park. Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are within a short drive, and offer additional hiking and fishing, as well as outstanding scenery. The Island Park Rodeo is the first Saturday in August.
