There are no Walk-ins available at this site. Only reservations with 5 days advance notice are permitted.
This historic Forest Service guard station is located approximately 13 miles from Alpine, WY on the Bridger-Teton National Forest. It was constructed in 1933 by the CCC and it is available for reservations year round. The guard station has running potable water, a flush toilet, and shower available during the summer months only, approximately May 25 to September 30. The kitchen has all the basic amenities including sink, propane stove/oven, propane refrigerator, table and chairs. Some dishes,pots, pans and utensils are provided, however the presence of these items is not guaranteed. The cabin has propane heating and lighting. It sleeps five (5) people on two (2) sets of bunk beds, and one (1) single bed with mattresses. NO linens or bedding are provided. Recommended items to bring are dish soap, dish rags, toilet paper, garbage bags and a flashlight. Winter access to the guard station is by snowmobile only.
If you like a primitive experience, this cabin might be for you. Access is along a low-speed gravel road, so plan more time than you would for paved roads.
