12'x14' Pan Abode cabin that sleeps 6 people. The cabin was built in 1991 by volunteers from Sitka. Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, woodstove for heat, and an outhouse. It has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags, pads, cookstove, cooking gear, and food. Access by floatplane or boat. A mooring buoy is provided for boat anchorage on a first-come, first-serve basis, and may be used by cabin users or general forest users. www.Sitka.org. There are NO discounts for Golden Age and Golden Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. The person holding the reservation must be 18 and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30. SETTING: Spruce and hemlock forest, berry bushes, beach, deer and brown bear on nearby land, seals and waterfowl. ACTIVITIES: Easy access to Chichagof Island, hiking on beach, wildlifeviewing, access to shrimp and crab S and E of Moser Island. Dolly Varden, pink and chum salmon in local rivers. RESTRICTIONS: Brown bear frequent area, cabin is not maintained in winter, firewood may be scarce. Rain gear and boots recommended.
Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.
