Pinecrest Lake is a picturesque summer lake located 30 miles East of Sonora just off Hwy 108 at an elevation of 5600'. The recreation area is located on the West side of the lake and is comprised of the Pinecrest Campground Complex, the day use beach area and marina, a small shopping center and recreation cabins. There is also a USFS Ranger Station located at the entrance to the Recreation Area.
Pinecrest Campground:Typical campsite facilities include a paved parking pad, picnic table and fire ring, the majority of the sites are treed. Bathrooms have flush toilets, sinks and a utility sink. No RV hookups area available. There is a dump station available and water supply. The campground has water faucets with potable water.
Camping is available in Pinecrest year round, the following restrictions apply:
- Oct 18, 2010 to April 21, 2011 - Winter Camping at Pioneer Trail. Limited campground services available and limited Forest Service facilities remain open.
- April 21, 2011 to May 11, 2011 - Walk in Availability, Weather Permitting
- May 12, 2011 to Sept 5, 2011 - Advanced Reservations Required
- Sept 6, 2011 to Oct 18, 2011: - Walk in Availability, Weather Permitting
- Oct 12, 2010 to Opening Day 2011 - Winter Camping. No Campground Services Available and limited Forest Service facilities remain open.

Group Camping: Pioneer Trail Campground is located approx 1 mile from Pinecrest Lake and is perfect for large groups of 50 to 75 people. Please search for Pioneer Trail, CA. on the Recreation.gov home page. You may visit DodgeRidge.com or email camp@dodgeridge.com for further information.
Please Note: Early check-in is not guaranteed, your site may be occupied by another party the night before your arrival. All reserved campsite(s) must be slept in starting the first night of the reservation. Official check-in time is 2:00 pm.
Maximum of 6 people per site strictly enforced. Maximum of 3 tents or 1 RV/Trailer per site. Maximum of 2 vehicles per site (RV's included) as long as they fit on the parking pad. No guarantee that two vehicles will fit, especially if there is a trailer as well. Free overflow parking available.
Dogs are allowed in the campground but not in the day use area. Dogs must be on a leash and attended at all times.
