Almanor South Campground is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The campground is located 12 miles outside the town of Chester, CA, on the west shore of Lake Almanor at 4,245 feet in elevation. The lake is surrounded by a beautiful mixed conifer forest, and average temperatures are 45-90 degrees May-August and 25-75 degrees September-October. Vault toilets are provided, as well as a flush toilet at the boat ramp. There is limited parking. Enjoy hiking, biking, stream and lake fishing, boating, water skiing, and swimming. Boat launch, beach, and amphitheatre facilities are available. For campsite information please call the Almanor Ranger District at (530) 258-2141.

Directions (Google Directions):

From Chester, take Highway 36 West to Highway 89 South. Turn left on Highway 89 and continue 5.5 miles to Almanor Drive West (do not confuse with Almanor West development and Almanor West Drive). Turn left on Almanor Drive West (directly across from the Almanor Group Camp and Rest Area) continuing approximately one mile to Almanor South Campground. Turn right into Almanor South Campground.
