The R6 (Flat Roofed) lookout, originally a ground house with catwalk, was flown by helicopter to the present location in 1974 and placed on an 8 foot tower. The lookout is situated approximately 3,419 feet above sea level The fee is $40.00 per night, which is used for maintenance and renovation of the Lookout. Please call the district office to get the combination.

Access from Gold Beach: From US Hwy. 101 turn east on the South Bank of the Rogue River, county road 595. This road becomes Forest Service Road (FSR)33. Go approximately 10 miles to FSR 3310 (Lobster Creek Road), take this road another 10 miles to FSR 3340, take this road approxiamtely 9.1 miles to Five Corners. Turn left on FSR 141 to the Lookout gate. Pass through the gate and continue approximately 3/4 miles to the Lookout. Travel time from Gold Beach is approximately 1.5 hours.
