The lake is screened by heavy forest, and so stays relatively windless and calm. Fishing for rainbow trout is good, and there is ice fishing in the winter, when access permits. There is a dirt boat ramp for boat access. This lake was created by steam explosions, caused when hot volcanic magma hit groundwater.
