Fall Mountain Lookout Recreation Cabin is a former Forest Service Lookout, built in 1933. This rustic cabin, with windows all around, has one 14'x14 room with sleeping accomodations for two (1 futon) and electric heat, refrigerator, stove and lights. At an elevation of 5,949 feet, the lookout is approximately 18 feet tall with a 360 degree view that includes the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness and the towns of Seneca and Mt. Vernon (in the distance). It is located approximately 14 miles from the town of John Day, Oregon. NO POTABLE WATER IS AVAILABLE. A primitive vault toilet is located near the lookout.
