Esswine is a group site located on the north side of the Mountain Loop Road about 6 miles east of the Verlot Public Service Center on the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River. The small group site is a good alternative for a few of you trying to find some single sites next to one another. If you were to reserve three or four single sites in another campground you would end up probably paying more than this group site where you get the entire campground to yourselves. Some families like to do the small group sites just so that they can have complete privacy and not have to worry about the dogs or kids wondering into someone else's site. There is room for about 25 campers. It gives you great privacy and is ideal for tenters mixed with RVs. There are four tent pads and four picnic tables plus two separate camping areas around two different firepits. To get in, visit the host or attendant at Gold Basin as you head out to the campground. The host will have a gate key. The mountain view is spectacular but the campground has a relatively low elevation at about 1,650 feet. There is a CXT vault toilet, but no water so bring your own supplies. .
