Camp Details:

The historic Liz Creek Cabin is located on the North Fork Ranger District of the Clearwater National Forest. The Clearwater National Forest is in North-Central Idaho.

The Liz Creek Cabin is located a short distance from the Lolo Motorway (Forest Road 500), which is part of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. This is the route that Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery followed on their 1805 and 1806 treks through the rugged Bitterroot Mountains.

The cabin was expertly reconstructed and restored in the summer of 2007 and has only recently been added to the Forest's list of commercial rentals. The Liz Creek Cabin is a rustic cabin and does not have electricity, flush toilets or running water. It is not possible to drive a full-sized vehicle or ATV all the way to the Liz Creek Cabin. Persons who are interested in renting the cabin must be willing to hike or ride a mountain bike or motorcycle 1.5 to 4.2 miles, depending on the route, to reach the cabin.

Trail 20, which ultimately leads to the Liz Creek Cabin, is open to ATVs for the first 7.8 miles. The final 1.5 miles is open to hikers or mountain bike or motorcycle riders, only. The trail tread is too narrow to accommodate ATVs.

Trail 649 is 4.2 miles in length. Full-size vehicles and ATVs are prohibited from traveling on this trail. Persons who choose to access the Liz Creek Cabin via Trail 649 will have to hike or ride a mountain bike or motorcycle.

The cost of the cabin is $40 per night.

Persons who are considering renting Liz Creek Cabin are strongly encouraged to contact Clearwater National Forest Supervisors office (208) 476-8267, for more information.

If you are interested in purchasing a Clearwater National Forest map, which shows the routes leading to the Liz Creek Cabin as well as adjacent roads and trails, please remit a check or money order, in the amount of $10.00 and made payable to USFS, to Clearwater National Forest Map Request, 12730 Highway 12, Orofino, ID 83544. For your convenience, we are also able to process over-the-phone credit card purchases; all major credit cards are gladly accepted. You are invited to contact the Clearwater National Forest Information Desk at (208) 476-8267 to order your map(s).

Be sure to check the Clearwater National Forest's website at www.fs.fed.us/r1/clearwater for more information about the forest's many recreational opportunities.
