Firehole Campground is located 15 miles from Rock Springs, Wyoming on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Set in a desert landscape, the campground is wooded with olive trees and sagebrush. There are beautiful views of the reservoir and the red rock formations.
The area is known not only for its beautiful and startling red cliffs, but also its world class fishing. Lake, brown and rainbow trout fishing, boating, swimming and scuba diving are also available at the reservoir. River rafting on the Green is also spectacular, with the red cliff walls rising on both sides.
The dam at the reservoir offers guided tours every hour of the working hydroelectric plant and the history of the area. The Fenley Dinosaur Area is also a popular attraction for those interested in learning the history of the area.
