Just 25 miles from Albuquerque Nine Mile Picnic Area is almost 1 mile higher than the desert floor of Albuquerque, NM. Aspen and Fir trees cover this picnic site at 9,200' above sea level. A short drive of less than four miles, brings visitors to the Sandia Crest which has a panoramic view of Albuquerque and the Rio Grande Valley. Hiking Trails are adjacent to this picnic area.

From Albuquerque drive east on I-40 approximately 7 miles to exit 175. Proceed north on Hwy 14 seven miles to Hwy 536. Go west on Hwy 536 approximatelly 11 miles to Nine Mile Picnic Ground. Altitude is 9200'; it is close to hiking trails; wood & charcoal are not available.
