WHETSTONE HORSE CAMP (SC)

Open year-round. Sites 6 through 14 are available only by reservation. These sites will be available for reservations year round.

Offering 28 miles of nearby horse trails, Whetstone Horse Camp is a gateway for horseback riders who like to ride and camp. It serves as a base camp for riders on both the Rocky Gap (South Carolina) and the Willis Knob (Georgia) Horse Trails. The camp, located 13 miles northwest of Walhalla, has 18 sites with parking spurs for horsetrailers; 9 are first come, first served, while up to 9 may be reserved. Site amenities include centrally-located drinking water, cooking grills, hitching rails, tables and lantern posts as well as wheelchair accessible toilets.

When you make a reservation, post one of the following on the clip provided at your site: a) Your confirmation letter. b) Your reservation number. c) The name of the person that the site is reserved for.

From Walhalla, go north 6 miles on State Highway 28. Turn left onto Whetstone Road. Go straight for about 5 miles. From the four-way stop, go straight for another 1.5 miles. The pavement ends and gravel begins. A sign for Whetstone Horse Camp is about 3/4 mile down the gravel road. There is a sign for Whetstone Horse Camp on the left and day-use parking on the right.
