Located near Flaming Gorge Reservoir at 6200 feet, this campground gets its name from the resident deer herd. The rolling terrain is typical of high desert, with sagebrush and scattered greenery.
The area is known not only for its beautiful and startling red cliffs, but also its world class fishing. Lake, brown and rainbow trout fishing, boating, swimming and scuba diving are also available at the reservoir. River rafting on the Green is also spectacular, with the red cliff walls rising on both sides of the river.
The dam at the reservoir offers guided tours every hour of the working hydroelectric plant and the history of the area. The Fenley Dinosaur Area is also a popular attraction for those interested in learning the history of the area.
While this site isn't open to groups, the nearby Arch Dam, Greendale, Dripping Springs, Antelope or Dutch John Draw have several group sites available.
