Located in the eastern Sierra, 25 miles north of the town of Bishop, California. Situated along Rock Creek. Vegetation includes sagebrush and aspen, cottonwood and Jeffrey pine trees. Pink volcanic rock. Elevation is 7,000 feet. Most campsites are in an open sagebrush area. Campground roads are gravel. Popular activities include hiking, fishing and wildlife viewing. Mule Days are held in Bishop over Memorial Day weekend. The Mammoth Jazz Jubilee takes place in mid-July.
