The Magee Ranger's Cabin is a fully furnished 2-story cabin in the center of the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District. The cabin sleeps 6, with a full-size bed downstairs and four single beds upstairs. Amenities include: potable water, flush toilet, hot water shower, propane stove, refrigerator, and heater. The location of the cabin is remote with the nearest telephone approx. 25 miles away and nearest grocery access approx. 32 miles in Prichard, ID. History: The Magee Cabin was constructed in 1922 as living quarters for the Magee District Ranger. The cabin along with several buildings at the site are on the National Register of Historic Places. These buildings may occasionally be occupied as temporary housing for Forest Service employees working in the vicinity. Availability: End of May - Beginning of October (depending on snow and road conditions). Maximum length of stay is 5 days per season. Renters will be allowed a maximum of two reservations with 14 days between rental periods, but must not exceed 5 days per season. Attractions: Located in the heart of the Coeur d'Alene Mountains along Tepee Creek. Recreational activities include fishing (check Idaho Fish and Game regulations for restrictions) and nearby trails including the Independence Creek Trail System which offers 34-miles of trails suitable for hiking, motorcycles, horses, and mountain bikes.
