Open all year round. Modern restrooms are located at the Akers Ranger Station. Vault Toilets located in the Group Campground are open year round. Water is shut off Oct 1 thru April 14 to prevent frozen pipes .
Canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, inner tubing, are popular activities on this clear spring fed river. The Current River is cool and refreshing on hot summer days. During the summer months, Saturdays are the most crowded time to floot the river. Spring and Fall are prime times to enjoy the River and encounter less crowds. Ozark National Scenic Riverways has a Firewood Movement Restriction Program in effect to prevent the spread of invasive insects and diseases. If you plan to visit the park, buy your firewood from a local source (within 50 mile radius of your destination) or you may collect 'dead and down' wood in the park. All firewood must be burned before you leave.
