Need power for camping? Gas generator, solar power, and batteries are all traditional options. However, now there is a new option hydrogen fuel cells.

Horizon has invented a pocket-sized fuel cell for personal use. The Horizon MiniPak is one cool product to create electricity in remote locations. It will bring virtually unlimited run time for your electronics.

It uses hydrostik which is, a environmentally friendly, disposable cartridge that can be used multiple times. It is very different from other fuel cartridges for fuel cells. The thing about this hydrostik, is that it is refillable, non-toxic, fully recyclable, and has a competitive energy storage cost compared to existing battery devices.

It is known as the first fuel cell to compete on cost with both disposable and rechargeable batteries, with just one refillable cartridge supplying as much power over its lifetime as 1000 disposable AA alkaline batteries. Finishing this fairytale-like sustainability pitch, it’s also 100% recyclable, uses no heavy metals and there are no toxic liquids involved.

Horizon MiniPak is compatible with different devices like cellphones, smartphones, GPS handhelds, Go-Pro type cameras and MP3 players. It renders a 1.5 to 2W of uninterrupted energy supply using the portable port, and uses refillable fuel cartridges for up to 12Wh of energy. It is intended to broaden the charge of small portable electronics. It is somehow limited to small devices. In a way it is a miniature-scale power plant that produces electricity directly from hydrogen.

In this day and age would you use hydrogen power for your energy needs in the outdoors? What do you use now? Tell us about it on facebook.
