Lupine Shelter Picnic Area is located 24 miles south of Wise River on the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway Road #73. The elevation is 7600 feet. Lupine Shelter was built in the 1990********s and is a replica of the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) style shelter. It has a large rock fireplace, lots of windows, and two tables inside. Outside it has picnic tables . Lupine Shelter is a day-use area and has a handicap accessible toilet. Lupine Shelter is open all year and gets 85% of its use during the winter when it is used as a warming hut by snowmobilers. During the summer months it is an excellent place to have a picnic or a family gathering.
